Decorated Shell Casings - Adapted
Finally we have shell cases that have been adapted to be something else. The two examples here are the most common.
On the left, a tobacco jar made for 2nd Lt John Brenchley MC, of the Coldstream Guards, plated in silver or chrome, then etched through to the brass beneath to highlight the design.
On the right, a miniature version of a coal scuttle, intended for use as a sugar holder or just for decoration by the fire, this one has been embellished with copper, and uses a copper drive band for the handle.
